Allegany College of Maryland
Allegany College of Maryland was founded in 1961 and established as a community college in Western Maryland to provide low-cost, high quality, higher education for the residents of the area. In recent years the College has developed highly specialized curricula including those in the technological and preprofessional areas, satisfying identified needs of the region.The College's strength lies in the excellence of its faculty and staff who personally assist students in defining and achieving their goals, and strive to promote a successful learning experience for all those we serve. We believe that the most effective and innovative educationalservices come from a collaborative effort among educators, students, business and government.The College has a 316-acre campus in suburban Cumberland that includes thirteen buildings providing modern facilities for almost 3,000 full-time and part-time credit students. In 2001, the College moved its Hospitality Management and Culinary Arts programs to a downtown facility in Cumberland that has the capacity for restaurant operations as well as classroom activities. In addition, Allegany College has campuses in Bedford County, located in Everett, PA and in Somerset County located in Somerset, PA.
